Why should I implement the Gale Cookie Cutter? This cookie cutter will stop your users from receiving access errors when they are using InfoMarks and MARC 856 records. This tool will enable your end users to access your Gale subscriptions with seamless efficiency.
Using Gale's Cookie Cutter Tool with MARC 856 To use Gale's Cookie Cutter Tool with MARC 856 URL's you will need to edit the MARC records that you download from Gale's web site. Step 1. You will need to add a "location id" (also known as a user identifier) to the end of each of the URL's
Your URL's should look like, where "gale" is your location id.
Step 2. To enable to cookie cutter tool to work with your MARC 856 URL's you will need to add it to the start of these URL's. The prefix that you are adding is the following
This will result in your MARC 856 URL's to look like the following.
Important Notes : Please ensure that you have the correct database and location ID's aligned. The Cookie Cutter tool will force the end user to the location id that you have entered in the URL in Step 1. above.
